Klawervlei article included in this posting

Hemel 'n Aarde Stud - where Jay Peg was born and raised - are delighted with the stallion's current great run of success, taken a step further yesterday by the Hemel 'n Aarde bred TOMMY WATERDEVIL, publicised widely by Klawervlei Stud, where Jay Peg stands.  Our congratulations to Brooklyn Bullet Trust on the win and to trainer Erico Verdonese and rider Raymond Danielson.  May this colt go onward and upward!

Here is an article circulated by Klawervlei today with notes below on the 2 x JAY PEGS consigned by Hemel 'n Aarde Stud to CTS March Yearling Sale 19-20 March at Durbanville.

Lot 18 is a really striking, elegant and strong filly - half sister to 3 winners and by far the best foal from this productive, classically bred mare.

Lot 47 is a very racy, well made son of a 4 times winner by Toreador looking like a very speedy sort.  Surely a 2 year old in the making with the ability to train on?

Klawervlei’s proven resident sire Jay Peg has been enjoyed a terrific run of success with his three-year-olds this season.
The former Equus Champion and AP Indy grandson is currently South Africa’s fourth leading sire of 3yos this season, with Jay Peg sired sophomores having already amassed over R4.9 million in 2015-2016.

Latest of the Jay Peg three-year-olds to impress was the Erico Verdonese trained Tommy Waterdevil. An impressive winner on debut, the recently gelded Tommy Waterdevil made a good impression when defeating a competitive line up of older horses in a handicap over 1200m at the Vaal on Thursday and this lightly raced gelding looks to be going the right way.

Highly rated by his stable, the Hemel ‘n Aarde Stud bred gelding is owned by the Brooklyn Bullet Trust.

Tommy Waterdevil is, however, just one of a large number of exciting 3yos representing his multiple G1 winning sire this season. Others include R2.7 million earner Victorious Jay, Listed KZN Guineas trial hero Exit Here, Guineas placed filly She’s A Dragon, G3 Tony Ruffel third place finisher Le Clos, feature race winning filly and Oaks fancy Peggy Jay, and the very speedy filly Dixie Express.

Jay Peg, a former G1 Dubai Duty Free/G1 Singapore Cup winner, is strongly represented at next week’s March Yearling Sale. The champ has seven yearlings on offer at that sale, which takes place at Durbanville racecourse on March 19th and 20th.
Jay Peg’s draft includes:

Lot 18 – a half sister to 3 winners, this classically bred filly, whose fourth dam won the 1000 Guineas, is from the family of high class US G1 filly Country Garden

Lot 47 – out of a smart four time winning mare, this colt’s second dam is a Fort Wood half sister to G1 sprinter Big Sky Country, and is inbred to the breed shaping sire Danzig
